”Naghi, why don’t you control that friend of yours?”
Intently staring over the shoulder of a technician sitting at a computer screen, Naghi brought up a hand to the speaker. Taking in the last tidbit of information he needed off of the screen, he produced the cell phone from inside his jacket pocket and took a few seconds to type something into it. He’d need to keep the figures he placed inside for later. Only once the phone was back in his jacket and he’d turned to lean on the row of computers did Naghi acknowledge the existence of the Class Nine ninja who had approached and spoken before. ”What?”, Naghi simply asked, an invitation for the other man to repeat his question. ”That friend of yours from that other class that works here sometimes! She’s going to end up causing a disaster with the crap she’s pulling in the ops room!” As he plastered the other man with an incredulous look, Naghi only had one individual come to mind who could be his friend who worked sometimes to feed him information who also happened to be in another class, and that individual was Carla. He knew Carla had…a way about her sometimes, but nothing that would bother someone to the point that they’d come to Naghi to complain about her. Besides, he wasn’t exactly Carla’s keeper. ”You mean Carla?”, he asked, just to make sure that he and the other ninja were on the same page. ”Yeah, Carla, that’s the one! Can’t you go down and do something about her?”
Naghi rolled his eyes. Either the guy was overreacting severely to whatever it was Carla was doing or whoever Carla was pestering surely deserved it. Admittedly, though, Naghi was done here. He supposed he could go see what was going on if someone was going to have a hissy fit about it. Looking noticeably annoyed as he stood straight to stride past the other man, Naghi only shot him a dismissive wave as he passed by. ”I’ll talk to her. Don’t expect me to tell her to do anything any different.” ”Good! She’s terrorizing the lot of them!”
He made his way to the central staircase and started lightly jogging down. Right, it was time to “deal” with whatever Carla was supposed to be doing that was so horrible and terrifying. She was probably just telling them that they were doing something wrong or that she needed something in particular for her next mission or something else that should have been only mildly bothersome to the average ops room techie or mission coordinator. Naghi supposed that they weren’t used to having anyone questioning them; their tendency to be pampered was probably what was causing the problem. But then again, Naghi was only assuming. Casually cutting his way through passing students, Naghi looked bored as he made his way up to the doorway of the operations room, where he did think he heard a female voice ringing out amidst the light chatter going on around him. Letting loose a long puff of air, he turned the corner, head down and his hands in his pockets, to enter the room before a set of legs and a short skirt directly before him caused him pause. Damn…he knew who those belonged to.
Naghi started ranting at the man who had complained to him under his breath even before his head rose to reluctantly take in the sickeningly sweet features of Kayla (at least the prospect of looking into her face once she realized he was there was better than having her think he wanted to look at her legs). ”That was Kayla, you idiot, not Carla. How do you get those two mixed up…” What he found behind her was a pile of male technicians all standing at the far end of the room as if she’d already violated each and every one of them. Naghi brought a palm to his face so briskly that it made an audible crack of skin meeting skin. ”Kayla…”, he began to address her, against his better judgment, ”What in the name of Etro are you doing?”

I brush it off Hope it hits you hard, if it hits at all. So you finally know, what you really want Glancing at her watch, Carla nodded her approval. Good! She had enough time to run down to the main operations room to sort out a few things in regards to her next mission before she had to attend to other matters. At least she would if she hurried. She couldn’t forget that she had that meeting with the board about her latest information that she had gathered from Rubrum's forces. But thankfully that wasn’t for some time, so she could squeeze in a few questions and requests for her fake uniform and other gizmos they insisted she wear when she was on mission. Thankfully the guys were usually pretty good in the operating room, and would probably have everything she needed right there and in order, so she could just pop in, ask a few questions, and then pop back out really quick. Yeah! Not bad at all.
HMMmmm, what to do after her conference with a few of the higher ups? Sliding her phone back into the pocket on her jacket, Carla brushed her hands on her skirt and lengthened out her stride to a fast paced walk. The possibilities were pretty high in a place like Rubrum. She did have to be slightly careful when she was out and about though. Despite having a very good cover and never staying in any sort of Academy garb, Carla never knew when she might be seen by some member of the Millites who could report back to the leader. And thus she couldn’t simply be walking around willy nilly. This constant need to check over her shoulder wasn’t something that Carla especially liked, but she also knew that she job she was doing right at the moment was important, and someone had to do it. Besides, she trusted that she knew much more about undercover missions than most of those running around the place. And, of course, there was the fact that Naghi has specifically asked her to do this.
Why did she find it hard to turn his requests down? She could do it for absolutely every other body that tried to get her to do things for them. Carla was going to have to figure that one out, but not right at the moment. She had never fallen for any boy before in her life, so she sure wasn’t going to be starting now! And she wouldn’t be admitting it either.
And how on earth had she gotten onto this subject in her head anyway? Rolling her eyes, Carla picked up her walk to be faster and once more found herself on her way to the room she was heading towards.
Notes: This...doesn't really make sense...with the PSICOM and plot stuff, but whatever, I'm too lazy to fix it XD I'll fix it when I actually start posting again Wearing: Uniform Setting: Dat place Tagged: Naghi Words:519

"What am I doing!?" The voice that assaulted Naghi's ears grated on his nerves more than any voice in the entire, entire world - even listening to Mr. Astley was probably better. To avoid looking at her any at all, he decided it would be a good idea to stare at the ceiling...but the worry of what she would do to his body if he gave her an opening and wasn't aware of her every move made him bring his eyes back to her as she continued speaking. Naghi was sure that some guys might find girls like Kayla attractive, but those guys didn't belong in the operations room because they weren't smart enough to run the equipment. "I'm helping your class with your duties, of course! You shouldn't take that tooone you know... You should be thanking me, in fact! Preferably back at your room in an hour or so." It took every ounce of will in Naghi's body for him not to snap back with an insult. He figuratively bit down on his tongue, huffing slightly and clenching his teeth to delay before he spoke. "Why don't we take stock of the state of the operations room, then?", he asked, realizing that nothing he said to her directly was going to make any difference and that if he wanted to gain anything, he had to make her reach her own conclusions. Doing so felt oddly like throwing himself off a bridge. "Then we can decide if I should thank you."
He gestured to the rest of the room around the two of them, expression neutral. One way or another, if it killed him, he was going to make a point here. "These technicians...what did you notice them doing when you first walked in here?" Kayla looked around with him as if the question was blatantly obvious and answered him as such. "They were all working at the computers, silly!" Naghi almost felt nauseated with the way she spoke the word silly, but he made it through nonetheless. "That's exactly right. They were all at their stations, setting up mission briefings and talking to troops in the field and working as handlers for field agents. I'm sure they were all doing their jobs admirably." Anyone with half a brain would see just how mocking Naghi's whole line of reasoning was and where that line of reasoning was headed, but it looked like Kayla was still thinking about how to best strip him of his pants. She wouldn't catch on anytime before he reached the conclusion, without a doubt. Pleased that she wouldn't, he motioned to the room again. "What is everyone doing now, Kayla?"
He stood with his arms crossed as she turned to look at them all, curiously. She wasn't this ignorant, but she liked to pretend she was so she'd seem more innocent and lure guys in more easily. If Naghi despised anything about her aside from her obsessiveness over guys, manner of dressing, and...well, everything, it was that she was just clever enough to put on an act. Damn, did it grate on his nerves. "Everyone's against the wall for some reason. Not very efficient, if you ask me. Want me to get them back in place, Naaaaghi?" Oooookay, now she was just being all that he hated about her all at once, and he had to suck in a deep, calming breath not to resort to the earlier insult plans. He pursed his lips and shut his eyes. "No, Kayla. No, I do not want you to get them back in place." He wanted her to find the nearest window and toss herself out, but she was a monk so she'd probably survive the fall, anyway. At least the thought of otherwise was comforting. "I want you to either quietly find a station where you can be of some use to someone on a mission or preparing for a mission or something that will make it seem like you're worth more than the chair you'd be sitting in, or I want you to go...bother Class Zero or whatever you do to entertain youreself." Naghi could have patted himself on the back for staying calm as he spoke.
The words only seemed to work on her dense, stupid mind for a few seconds, before her eyes glazed over again. "...Are you saying I'm not useful? Oh Naghi..."
Naghi's jaw set. By Etro, he was going to lose his mind. One, two, three, four, five...

I brush it off Hope it hits you hard, if it hits at all. So you finally know, what you really want Mmm, what to do with the rest of her night after she went down and talked gadgets with the men. With the door in sight that would lead her to her destination, Carla pondered over that thought. What to do... Well, honestly, she had a whole stack of gil she had just piled on her dorm floor in preparation for counting it late - she'd made a steal this past week. Carla couldn't quite think of anything more fun than diving into that gil and counting how much she had made. Well...eating ice cream might be up there on the list alongside the laughing maniacally while she rolled around in piles of money bit. Close anyway. In reality, most of what she had made the week prior would be going to her mothers weighty medical bill. Even though she was ahead by a few months, Carla didn't want to lose that edge - and she certainly didn't want to take money out of her safe.
That in itself reminded her that she was far overdue to call her mother and see how her and her sister were doing. As little as Carla wanted to admit it, she missed them - and the normal life not being in Rubrum offered. It hadn't been her idea, after all, to join this place. Instead, her mother had done so for her, as an opportunity to 'better herself'. Carla had thought she had done well for them before she had been enrolled in the fancy magic school, but she would admit that she'd made much more gil once she had come. Maybe this place wasn't all that bad...
For a moment Carla spent the time to look down at the object she had just traded another student for. While they had said it didn't work, Carla had been quick to jump on the high tech gadget, sure she could get it fixed up and in proper order in no time with the help of some of the techies. She could make a fortune off reselling it! Smiling to herself, she finally came to the door she needed to pass, though she had come from the left instead of the main entryway. Taping the few buttons she needed to in order to give her access, Carla glanced down at the gadget she had in her hands while she walked through the door. “Hey Greg? I need some advice abou-“ When Carla lifted her eyes, she paused in step and let what she had been going to say fizzle out of her mouth. Oh boy…
Rolling her eyes blatantly, Carla continued walking in, her grin wide when she saw Naghi was there too. “Oh, well if it isn’t Kayla herself!~ Didn’t terrorize enough men for the day, so you decided to come in here? You should really get a hobby that doesn't involve making people hate you~” With her gadget out she had asked one of the men to advance for her, she walked toward one of the young men cowering in the corner. “Hey Naghi,” she said cheerfully over her shoulder, giving him a knowing look and handing her gizmo toward the guy she’d come to see. “Here's the thing I wanted you to fix up for me-…and stop cowering Greg, she won’t eat you.” With a grin on her face, she leaned in and whispered loudly, “At least not with us here, you can’t ever tell with girls like that.” Okay, so maybe she shouldn't have made a comment like that. Greg's eyes looked ready to pop right out of his skull. "Come on, Greg, do you really think she'd be smart enough to figure out how to eat you?" She said it loudly, sure Kayla would just looove that. Actually, Carla hoped she did take offense. After all, she hadn't slapped Kayla around in far too long. "Excuse me?!"
Carla grinned widely down at the cowering guy, before she turned around, crossed her arms over her chest and leaned easily against the wall to her left. "You're excused, don't stick around just to look at my pretty face~" "That's not what I meant, and you know it! You...you...you cretin!" "Woooah." Putting her hands up in a mock effort to 'fend off' her words, Carla made a show of stumbling back. "Such hurtful words. I'll never recover~" A few snickers rolled from behind her. "Now if you would kindly excuse us. I was talking to Naghi here before you butt in.", she nearly purred. "Sure thing, Fluffers. Just a quick question though - do you know what cretin means?" "It means...something bad!" "Oh my, you've gotten profound since last time we talked too." A full blown laugh came from that. Carla didn't get a chance to torment Kayla nearly as much as she liked.
