I can smile For the camera, I can feed you my heart ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ Lightning stepped into the bar slowly, the only sound coming from her was the soft thud of her boots on the hardwood flooring. The room was filled with chatter, and only a few glanced up to see the woman as she made her way to the bar. It seemed like a good idea at the time, a drink might help to clear her mind. However, she quickly realized being alone in a bar seemed far more depressing that it did helpful. Still, she slid onto the bar stool, ignoring the pointed glances at the gunblade handing from it's holster. She made people nervous, even people who didn't really know who she was. it didn't bother her exactly, but it also didn't give her any fuzzy, satisfied feeling either. The barkeep was quick to start chattering at her, which she mostly ignored until he asked what he could get for her.
"Just anything you've got on tap." She mumbled at him. She didn't really drink that often. In fact the last time she remembered drinking at all was back when she was still an active member of the Guardian Corps. The barkeep came back with a glass of amber colored liquid that tasted rather strong, but not in an unpleasant way. After a few moments of staring into the glass, in hopes that it has some sort of divine knowledge she did not possess, the barkeep came back. Maybe she should have sat at one of the tables away from the bar.
"Ya know, you'd be rather pretty if it wasn't for all the scowling." He told her. Slowly, she raised her gaze from her drink up to him with a cold glare. Weren't bartenders tipped employees? She would think he's at least try to be a little polite. "All jokes aside, something got you down?" He asked. The glare hardened. Really did this guy have nothing else to do. A bar full of patrons and he chose to bother her.
"Nothing I'd go into with a complete stranger, so you can stop the bartender psychologist number and bother someone else." She snipped back at him. She really wasn't in the mood for small talk, and apparently her ignoring him was not a sign enough to leave her the hell alone. What was with it with people? It was nice not to walk through the streets and have a mere glance at her face cause widespread panic, but she didn't want each and every person on Pulse to stop her and ask how her life was.
"Sheesh, just tryin' some friendly conversation, no need to get so nasty." He muttered before walking off, apparently following her earlier advice. For a guy who made all his money off of tips he sure didn't know how to handle people, not that she really cared. He could have been the most relaxed, polite, and pleasant person in the world but she still wouldn't be in the mood for idle chit chat. She wasn't big on talking about her problems, and when she did it definitely was not going to be with a bartender she hardly knew.

WITH YOUR FACE TO THE FLOOR

Etro only knew - and the bartender - how much Fang had been drinking lately.
If she hadn't been doing the drinking, Fang probably would have killed someone by now. Probably someone like Hope or a 'higher up' that had been heavily involved with the making of the shit hole they called Academia. The place she was in now, heaven help her. Lady Luck was on the side of people though, because drunk and naked as she had been while she had made the promise, Fang had promised Lightning's little sister that she wouldn't tear the city down and burn it with her bare hands on the stipulation that they didn't expand the city and no other cities popped up like it. She thought that was pretty fair to be honest, since she was itching to do just that - burn it down and dance on the ashes. But since she couldn't do that without breaking her promise, something Fang didn't like to do, she was stuck to turn to the bottle instead of destroying things.
She would rather snag Rygdea, hole up in his office and drink the day away with him there, but since she had been told he was out testing airships today, Fang would just have to be content with the bar that she had grown quite familiar with in the past few weeks she had been brought back to this world by the goddesses. Hell, they could have warned her they were sending her back to a place where Cocoon was in a damned city on her planet. To forget about it momentarily, Fang found herself flying out across the vast expanses of Gran Pulse on Bahamut to hunt the wild beasts that could still be found there. And damn it, the only ones that could hunt things were her. No doubt the Cocoonians would push the animals back and try to destroy them. Fang would be damned if she let them destroy Gran Pulse piece by piece.
As she walked into the bar, Fang decided she would drop that subject and pick it up after she had enjoyed herself in the bar. It seemed that her presence was immediately seen. "Hey, Fang!" Lifting her gaze, the Pulsian grinned in greeting to the bartender that seemed to live his life here. "Heya Travis! Miss me?", she said with a wiggle of her eyebrows. "Hell yes. You wouldn't believe the amount of customers I've had since Monday.", he said with a grin. Fang, however, was distracted by the back of a certain pink haired Farron sister. "Well hot damn. If it isn't Loight.", she said in good humor. Having reached the back of the woman, Fang settled into a chair beside her and nodded to the bartender again. "Give me a vodka martini, Travis. Up, extra dirty, and a few more olives than ya' normally put in there." "Sure thing, Fang. Oh...you know that group that was here Monday when you...uh, had some fun in the bar? They've opted to place every first and fourteenth drink you have on their tab."
Heh...so getting almighty drunk, stripping out of your clothes and running naked down the hallways actually did her a favor. "Moighty generous." Propping her elbow up on the bar, Fang's gaze turned toward her friend on her left and studied her serious comrade. "Ya' look loike you've got the weight a' the world on yer shoulders.", she finally remarked. "What's eatin' ya?"
{NOTES } Fang and Lightning are such a badass team of women

I can smile For the camera, I can feed you my heart ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ Lightning heard the newcomer arrive the moment they opened the door. She wasn't one to let her guard down. She'd been trained to always be alert, and when she was alone she knew no one had her back, so she'd watch it herself. She didn't turn to see who it was, she didn't particularly care to. Though, when she heard their voice she knew who it was immediately. She wasn't sure if she was happy to hear the familiar voice or dreading the company. When the woman settled beside her she knew she'd have no choice but to catch up. She couldn't say that the thought of speaking to her was awful, she just was getting increasingly short with people the more time she spent around here. She liked Academia well enough, as well as you could like a place. It felt a little bit like home, but different enough that she wasn't looking over her shoulder minute after minute worrying someone was going to attack them. She was especially proud of the accomplishments Hope achieved. She would never have guessed that the kid who followed her in the Gapra Whitewood would become such a strong, intelligent individual. However, the fact that she'd seen very little of him since everything settled down didn't sit well with her.
"Good to see you, albeit not surprising. Word is you've been spending quite some time here." She said, her gaze slipping to the woman next to her. She knew what was bothering the woman. Academia was not what her ideal version of Pulse was. She could understand not wanting a bunch of what were basically refugees coming in and molding her world to their will. However, this was the world they were left with. This was what they had. There was no use in dwelling on it in her opinion, but she also knew Fang would not appreciate that sentiment. She kept her mouth shut. She really didn't want to start their first conversation in a long while with a fight.
"I wouldn't say the entire world. Not this time, at least for now." She replied. It was almost a joke, though there was little mirth in her voice. She could only hope that the fate of the world would not once again rest on her shoulders, whether it be her burden to bear alone, or worse, the burden of her and her makeshift family. She didn't want to see them uprooted again. "I'm getting a little stir crazy though. I need to find something to occupy my time, but not much use for a soldier in a place like this." She said, a frown forming on her lips. She didn't really have the skills required to do much else. Her first real job was with the military, with the Guardian Corps. Academia was a place of research and innovation. Science and technology, and none of which she was particularly skilled at.
"Maybe I could get a job making sure Academia's scientists don't get trampled by the wildlife or something." She said, more as a verbal thought than something she was saying to the Pulsian woman. Her gaze drifted back down to the glass and took a deep drink from it. It's not like she could get a job like this, waitress or a bartender. She'd likely end up tearing her had out in boredom or frustration. Or more likely gutting the first customer who pissed her off. She could see it now. Even if she thought she could retain her sanity doing something like that, she wasn't sure who would hire someone like her. She wasn't exactly the most sociable of people, not that she ever wanted to be.
