PERSONALITY

DESCRIPTION: Sarcastic and sardonic, Alexander really doesn't seem like someone that you would expect to be a summoner. Hell, in truth, you probably couldn't tell from the way he acted that he had actually spent most of his life studying the ways of Yevon. Although he's got a sharp blade and a very sharp eye, it could be argued that his tongue is actually the sharpest of them all. He has a line for any situation and an insult primed for anyone around him. He can be quite antagonistic and some might wonder how he wound up as a summoner.

He also has a serious problem with grudges. When Alexander believes that he has been screwed over out of malice, he absolutely will not forget it no matter how much time passes. Whether it is 60 days or 60 years, Alexander will still remember what had happened every single day of those years and will wait patiently to exact whatever vengeance he's cooked up. In that he can be considered ruthless when desiring to be so and can be brutally pragmatic to a fault at times. He can be rather manipulative as well, playing in with his antagonistic nature to guide people in a certain manner.

He's extremely narcissistic as well, viewing himself as being a practical godsend from the heavens. It's to the point where if someone cloned him, he'd probably try to date it, despite being heterosexual. Because of this, he's also an extreme diva, and will not hesitate to make a mountain out of a molehill or ham it up if he thinks the timing is appropriate (and will sometimes do it even if it's inappropriate). Never let this man see you angst, because you will notice it, take it away, ham it up, and be as melodramatic as he possibly can just for the sake of being a melodramatic, antagonistic douche.

There is however, one line Nightmare will not cross. Nightmare is an absolutely adamant believer in the idea of free will. While not an advocate of complete anarchy, he does believe that those people have the free will and choice to break the law, and that should they do so, they are doing so with the knowledge of what the government may do if they are apprehended. To this end, Nightmare considers it a line that he would never cross, and tampering with one's free will is usually a very quick way to get him to throw everything he has at the offender.

The other thing that's also worth noting is that he is astoundingly intelligent. He made the entire pilgrimage without a single guardian by his side and even got the easier to miss Aeons, and if one looks, he's definitely not the strongest guy out there. The truth is, he just made it by way of being that resourceful and clever when he had to be. This translates to, of all things, technology. Despite his upbringing, he is surprisingly good at figuring out tech. If given a gun, he'd probably take it apart, figure out how it works, put it back together, and suggest improvements. In truth, if he went full tech savvy, he'd probably be a much, much more dangerous foe. But his upbringing sort of kept him away from that.

And lastly, he actually can be charismatic when he tries to be. The truth is, if Nightmare would learn to rein in his narcissism, then his natural talent along with his sheer charisma would have resulted in him being surrounded by guardians. He's actually very charming when he bothers to be so, and can appear as a pretty attractive guy in more than just looks because of it. Maybe if he learned humility earlier, he could have gotten some damned guardians.

LIKES: Anima, surprisingly. Chocobos, moogles... cute things in general. The idea of Unsent fascinate him as well.
DISLIKES: Machina, as it comes with the territory. Yunalesca for screwing him over, and Malboros. Just. Malboros.
FEARS: Arrogance has replaced fear.
OTHER: He would never actually admit it, but he really does feel a bit lonely sometimes.

RELATIONSHIPS AND HISTORY

History: Having lost his parents at a young age, Nightmare really doesn't remember too much about them. Sin came, caused some damage, and then left just like that. However, he does know that he was born as Alexander Sorel, son of Midas and Sophitia Sorel. When they were killed, he was sent to the temple in Bevelle to learn the ways of Yevon. As he grew, he would be taught to memorize the scriptures as well as receive training. While he was young, he decided that he wished to be a summoner, and asked for training in order to earn that right. On the side, he also requested to be trained as a warrior too as he claimed that he would defeat Sin on his own without help. Amused by his childish ambition, the priests of Yevon agreed as a means of entertaining him.

Alexander took to his studies and his training pretty well, he learned the scriptures, the rituals, the taboos, and the fighting. It actually kept him busy and as a result, it kept him out of trouble. Not to mention that the priests, unknown to Alex, liked to tout him as a model to aspire to for any children who whined about their work. If only they could see him now. But alas, the time came, and after receiving years of training, Alexander was finally ready to undertake the test to become a summoner. However, Alex did not have any guardians, nor did he wish to take any, and entered the cloister alone. However, the priests of Yevon, actually being sensible people who knew that the trial could be dangerous, sent a monk in to act as a pseudo-guardian. It turned out there was little to worry about, Alexander had already gotten through and was praying to the fayth. A couple hours passed, and the apprentice summoner emerged, the aeon of Bahamut as his first. There was much rejoicing at the emergence of a new Summoner, and Alex prepared for his pilgrimage.

It was here that he took the moniker Nightmare Darklight. Why? He thought "High Summoner Darklight" would sound cooler than "High Summoner Alexander" on a statue and in scripture. That's the actual reason, seriously. He began his pilgrimage without any guardians, satisfying the priests with the answer that he would find them during his journey, as he wished to form those bonds through danger. Without the eye of the priests on him and nothing to distract him, Nightmare's actual persona began to emerge. A callous jackass who believed himself the greatest thing ever. His successes without any guardians really only helped to embellish that, as he would go through the various temples, pray, and receive the Aeons without any issue. He even went out of his way, gathering the Aeon Yojimbo and after using Bahamut for a ride, managed to find Baaj Temple.

With his Aeons behind him, Nightmare finally made his way to the Calm Lands, through Gagazet, and all the way to Zanarkand. He'd done it. As far as he was concerned, he'd managed to make the pilgrimage without any guardians and succeeded at what he said he would so long ago. Surely Yunalesca would be impressed! When he finally met Yunalesca, he was filled with a sense of pride, and, in between checking her out when she wasn't looking, waited for her praise about how impressed she was. Turned out she wasn't. Turned out guardians were kind of a needed thing for a Final Aeon. While Alexander learned of the truth of the spiral of death, he wasn't really all that concerned about that. He was more concerned about being told this whole Final Aeon couldn't happen.

This started an argument between him and Yevon's daughter about how that was a load of crap, ending with Nightmare telling Yunalesca that the only reason Zaon was her husband and guardian was because she dressed like a hooker, and stormed out like a diva before she could really do anything. And thus the pilgrimage of Nightmare Darklight came to an end. Really not sure how someone repents when the founder of the religion is the father of the girl you insulted.

Then Yunalesca died and Sin died. Well that sucked. Now he was without any most of his Aeons and yeah. He kind of failed. Without Sin to keep him busy, he really isn't sure what to do anymore. All he could really do was wander Spira, not knowing what else to do. Maybe he could figure a way to make things work. He always did. He could maybe invest in machina? He'd need to get over the "it's heretical" bit, but maybe. Right now, he's unsure what to do.

WEAPONS, ABILITIES AND MAGIC

WEAPON(S):
Silversnake
A rather beautiful sword with runes etched into the blade. It's a long blade that Nightmare prefers to use, and he's very touchy over losing it.

Staff
A staff that Nightmare has in his off hand that he uses for his magic and summoning. He doesn't actually need it, but it helps him get in the zone. He also likes to pass it off as a walking stick when required to surrender his weapons.

Celestial Weapons
He may get them someday~

ABILITIES: Nightmare specializes in what he calls the Phantom Craft. To hear it from him, it's an ability that is nothing, but has the potential to become everything. So far, he can do the following using said Craft.

Order - Creating two orbs in his hands, Nightmare can mold these orbs with his thoughts to become any weapon type (such as swords, spears, bows, axes, etc) he desires. They take the form of translucent, onyx weapons, but can cut or slice or do all sorts of nasty things an actual weapon could do.

Chaos - Allows him to enchant his weapons with the elements of any magic he knows.

STRENGTHS:
Intelligent - Nightmare is very smart, and able to get out of most situations without dying
Mana - Nightmare has an obscene amount of mana in his body, and could probably go full burning for a long while.
Magic Knight - Nightmare is actually a fairly adept physical fighter when he wants to be. He received training as a monk while growing up as well.
WEAKNESSES:
Loner - Not a case of "I don't like opening up", but more like "everyone hates you and actively refuses to help you." Nightmare does a very good job of alienating others.
Arrogance - With pride comes the fall, as they say, and Nightmare can sometimes be blinded because of it.
Jack of all, Master of None - Nightmare can do a little of everything, but there's nothing he really excels at combat wise.

SUMMONS: With the loss of Sin he actually lost his summoning power, mostly. He can still call...

Anima
Gender: Female
Description: A horrible rotting monstrosity, bound in chains and wrapped in a shell. Her head is bandaged, and that is only above ground. Below ground is Anima unbound, with the bandages removed and the arms unchained. This really only shows for those who get targeted by Oblivion. It's unknown whether Nightmare is using something involving the fayth, using his own magic power as a supplement, or if he's just so damn determined to keep the one person he considers a friend that it's breaking things to work for him.
Ability 1: Pain - Inflicts Death Status on an enemy.
Ability 2: Oblivion - Drags the enemy beneath the ground in some sort of underworld. From there, Anima breaks her chains, and proceeds to pummel her foe into well, Oblivion, before letting loose a final explosion.

Bahaha, this made me laugh all throughout. xD He sounds like an amazing character, 'dating his clone despite his heterosexuality'. The only thing I'd like to note is his Order ability, I'm fine with it but try not to have it turn him into some sort of superhuman that even gods would struggle to kill. ;P Considering the weaknesses you noted though, I'm not too worried about that.
