Etro, how she'd missed this.
The Pulsian lifted her gaze to the sky, her eyes closed even as the wind whipped at her chestnut tipped black hair. Her legs tightened around the back of her summon while she lifted her arms and gave a loud "Ye-haw" into the air. She didn't think she would ever get tired of this feeling of being weightless, soaring through the sky. Since her first time being surrounded by clouds, Fang had loved the exhilaration - and the freedom, that she got with doing so. She could remember that day clearly. It had been the first day she had talked Vanille into snagging a wyvern with her binding rod and going through the process of learning to tame the wild beast that it was. Of course, the first attempt hadn't gone so well, with Fang nearly being killed and the wyvern instead laying as a corpse by their feet. The second attempt hours later had yielded rich rewards, with Fang being able to soar across the cast plains of Gran Pulse and allow the wind to flutter through her hair, much like it was doing now.
But she was out here for a reason. That reason being hunting. Fang put a palm down onto the back of Bahamut and leaned to the side to look at the sparkling water beneath her. The ocean couldn't look more clear and expansive than it did now. So inviting, that if she didn't have a 'party' that Vanille would probably murder her for missing, she would simply swim her life away after she went hunting. But alas, she did have a party to go to, and she'd promised Vanille that she would snag some fish to grill up for the occasion. While she could have spent the time fishing for smaller ones, Fang had set her sights on one of the larger fish that populated the deeper oceans. She could see one surface every once in a while, and had been following the movement of the large fish that were such a delicacy to those that had previously lived on Gran Pulse. She often wondered how they hadn't been rediscovered since there was once again life on the grand world, but didn't stop to think about it too much.
Instead, she readied her lance, clambered up until she was on the neck of her summon and tightened her grip again. Keen eyes searched the water, until she saw the tell tale sign of what she was looking for. At that moment, Fang leaned forward and urged Bahamut to start his descent. Faster and faster he went, tucking in his wings to create an impressive display of speed. Fang stayed on until they had nearly reached the water. There, her eyes squinted against the wind, she could see the back of the very type of fish she was hunting. Gathering herself, Fang's feet were now pushing against her mechanical summon and her lance was at the ready. With a mighty grunt, the huntress propelled herself off the back of Bahamut and fell the remaining distance toward the ocean. There, her lance slammed into the fish she'd been hunting. She herself hit the back and only stayed there because of her death grip on her lance. Instantly the fight began. With the fish thrashing, Fang was thrown off and slightly into the water, still gripping the lance and struggling to get back on. "Lady luck! Anytoime now!", she shouted while struggling with the thrashing fish. Then it demanded on going underneath the water. Fang barely got a breath before it dove under, taking her and her lance with it. She felt herself being dragged along more than she could see in the salty water. Well shit.
Trusting a hand out, Fang thought quickly and summoned an Aero spell. As the spell was cast, the air spell mixed with water to propel them up and sailing out of the ocean and into the air. Fang was thrown off while in the air and landed feet away from where the still thrashing -but now disoriented - fish landed. With a gasp of air to fill her lungs, Fang kicked her feet and reached out with powerful strokes to bring herself nearer her large prey - the fish being only slightly shorter in length than the average human. Once there, she grabbed her lance, placed her feet against its side and pulled her weapon ree from it. Quickly she grunted and shoved it again into the head of the animal, feeling it shudder once and then go limp beneath her. "Wheeeew! Tha' was sure a roide.", she said while her feet kicked slowly beneath her. "Hey! Bahamut, get over here an' make yerself useful."
The next ten minutes consisted of her hauling her catch on the back of her summon, but soon, they were once again flying over the ocean and toward the waiting town of New Bodhum. While the short ride had dried her off considerably, Fang's hair and sash was still dripping when Bahamut circled New Bodhum and made a more graceful descent toward the waiting crowd that had gathered there. Jumping off, Fang landed on the sand on one bent knee, before her summon landed behind her. "Hey! I got dinner.", she called. Turning back, she hooked her lance in the mouth in the fish. With a grunt, she dragged her fresh kill off Bahamut and onto the sand, where she inspected it again. "Doozy of a foighter. Thing nearly had me swimmin' with the fishies."
