Minerva had felt the change.
It seemed that the voices of many had called to her, pleading, begging that she come forth. She had been unable to dismiss their calls, unable to ignore the pleas that had assaulted her ears. Something...she knew not exactly what was corrupting the lifestream - and through it, the other realms. As their goddess, it could not be ignored. And so she had to find the source of this corruption and vanquish it.
Bright lights, green and blue intermingling created a flash of blinding light high upon the cliff overlooking Edge. A bowed head came up slowly, only when she had materialized fully upon the ground beneath her. Blue eyes that pierced peered down toward the city of the mortals. There would be a long journey to come for those that found themselves within that vast city - and everywhere else among Gaia and beyond. Minerva had come without her armor, but her staff was in her hand. The regal stance didn't miss in the slightest. The closer she had come to the mortals, the more corruption slipped through her very being. "Goddess Minerva...this is all folly. No mortal is worth the death of such as you." The blonde didn't move, yet her eyes shifted to the side, as if attempting to see who was behind her. "The lives of mortals are never in forfeit.", she said calmly. "I for one, will never allow them to become such."
"Chaos will take you, as it will the previous beings you coddle." The barely perceived look of annoyance that flitted across her features was accompanied by her turning to face the being behind her. "Was it the chaos that freed you from the bonds I placed you?" Minerva's eyebrow quirked even as she rested her staff on the ground beside her. Long, tapered fingers curled around middle while she waited for the being in front of her to do something more. "For too long, you've kept me in that bond...too long, goddess Minerva, I've dreamed of the day that I could tear you asunder for what you've done to me. The chaos provided that opportunity." Minerva's expression changed slightly, a harder appearance now hovering across her face. "You have found me then. Is it fear that holds you back? Or is it cowardice?" "For being a goddess of light, you seem prepared to kill.""The light is only one part. You would do well to remember that." Her chin lifted slightly, while she lifted her weapon from the ground. "You've had the last thousand years to dwell on it."
The low growl that came was a inhuman as the being that was present. "Silence!" The bolt of lightning that streaked toward her was easily deflected when she quickly brought her weapon to the ready. Minerva lifted her staff in the air to gain power, before she whirled and sent the magic aura of light toward her foe. With the blast catching him in the chest, he was hurled back and to the side. Quickly sprinting forward, Minerva caught him with the blade end of her staff and sent him high into the air. Reversing her grip on her weapon, the goddess hurled the flame she had gathered on her staff toward the enemy now hoovering in the air. She watched as he was knocked back and into the pile of rocks. It was with regal steps that she continued toward him. Soon enough, she waved her hand and caused the rocks to disperse - but rested her foot on his chest and held him there. Flipping her weapon the opposite way, Minerva allowed the blade to rest against the throat of the dark being she had now tightly in a grasp far from anything mortal, or the foot she had placed on his 'chest'. "You fool. I cannot be killed as mortals. Has your brain become addled in the time I've been away?"
Minerva allowed herself the pleasure of a smile. "It can if a mortal you were to become." The flicker of panic in those eyes was quickly stamped out as he tried to move. Yet she held him in a grasp more firm than the planet itself. "Even you, in all your glory, can't accomplish such a thing." Minerva's eyebrow went up slightly. "You have not gifted Gaia with your presence in some time. It seems that length of time is sufficient for a goddess to learn many, many things." With a barely perceived flicker of her hand, the same green and blue light that had caused her materialization swirled around the being. "You cannot keep me bound again - not with this chaos so deep within the planet." While he writhed under her grasp from the painful turning, Minerva pressed her blade closer against his neck. "My friend.", she started. "The fates are cruel." Minerva had no intention of binding this miserable being.
So instead, he would be left to slumber eternally.
