It filled his heart with anger to see the nations fighting like this. If he had only done something more to stop the whole thing, if there even was something that he could have done. It was even harder to know that this nations civilians were even stepping into this battle, that was something that they should not have to do. It all boiled down to what was in Cid’s mind to start such a thing, to bring such a thing down upon them, it was ludicrous. What did he want to achieve here, domination, being power hungry was never a good thing. Cid knew that they would not just stand around and watch their nation be overcome by his soldiers. But one thing was known at least, there would be no Cid Aulstyne on this battlefield today.
Kurasame watched as the Gabriel landed from his perch, atop of the wall around the academy. A lot of the civilians were either hiding or wielding sword at this point. There was no in between. After he had gotten word about Seven, Kurasame had expected this. They had all had a warning, and they were mostly prepared for it at any cost. But what made him furious the most was that their Brigadier General had gotten a hold of her. It was all everyone could do to stop him from putting an end to Qator Bashtar’s life before he even had a chance to invade. But once his mind settled he knew it would do no good going after him, they would send in everything they had all at once. Kurasame looked down to see most of Class Zero and the academies students. It was hard seeing them in a position like this, where it was fight or die. A lot of them had not had the pleasure of experiencing the good and greater things in life. That weight of always having to be prepared for things like this. He would trade in anything to see them not to have to go through this, right down to his own life. But he knew what they were conditioned for, that still did not give people the right to rip their lives away before they had even started.
The things that one thought about before going to war, things they could have done to stop it, to avoid the whole conflict all together. Of course war had its own reason, the fight for the crystals had always been happening. Confusing as it might be, war was war. It only came down to one thing in the end, and that was who won. The grief that one suffered was not enough to stop it, nothing was enough for anyone. The people that the soldiers were fighting for, the love they carried in their hearts was nothing compared to slaughtering the innocent, for they would do it gladly in most cases. That was unless they could fend for themselves and protect those around them. Kurasame even was fighting for people that he loved, Class Zero most of all. Much as he might not show it, he loved them above a lot in his life. Kazusa and Emina, lifelong friends that he would forever hold close to his heart. Even Arecia, as much as he did not like to admit it, he loved her as well, and would protect her along with the rest. The new people that had sprouted into his life, Lightning. She had courage and bravery, held those she knew to be dear above herself. She was self-governing had a good soul, but most of all he had grown to love her. Not as a brother would his sister, but as a husband would love his wife.
Gritting his teeth he jumped from the opposite side of the wall, using an ice spell to catch his feet as he moved into the city then. This day would be remembered, and he knew better than anyone that even if things came to worse and they lost, they would gain their home back, defend it at any cost or means necessary to them. It was then that he heard the first gunshot, the Milites had entered. He looked up to see one of them coming his way, he summoned his sword as he brought it down the Milites chest, he dropped. Moving to the edge of the city, where things were now more open, he paused hearing words of confrontation. His name followed with preaching, the General sure like to preach his words. With a shake of his head, Kurasame moved around the building that he was in front of pointing his sword at Qator. “Enough with your preaching, Bashtar.” He said to him with a shake of his head. He would never let his students die for him, it was not how the cycle worked in his mind. The man before him may have been alright with slaughtering people, but Kurasame was not, unless he had deep reason to do so. The reputation that this man upheld was simply that of fear among those around him, he must have picked that up from Aulstyne. Nothing stood between them now. He knew that Qator had a true hatred for him, and that would be his fall. Seeing another Milite out of the corner of his eye moving towards him, he used his left hand spinning it out in front of him and he then shot the spell to his right, all the while still looking to Bashtar. “I take it you are still Aulstyne’s puppet. But clearly using you for office work was not enough?” Kurasame questioned as he moved forward then, talking was over. Kurasame’s first move would be to try and unbalance the General. Pushing his body forward he drew his sword up then moved sharply to his right, as he pulled up a foot to kick at his side. Kurasame also had the power of being an L’Cie, rather Bashtar knew this or not, it would help him under the circumstances. He had gotten his Eidolon with the help of Lightnings sister, Serah and her fiancé Snow. Would if be enough for the man that he was now facing, Kurasame did not know.
