I brush it off Hope it hits you hard, if it hits at all. So you finally know, what you really want Well wasn't this going to be a boring day.
Carla scanned the row of books on the shelf, before glancing down at her little sheet of paper. The book she was looking for didn't seem to be there. "Nuts," she sighed out, tapping her nails against her chin. Her assignment really did call for this specific book, but if she couldn't find it, then she could always wander around and try to find a different book that had to do with the same subject. And so she did. Placing the paper back in her pocket, Carla started her way down the shelves, blue-green eyes taking in the titles of the books. She'd been doing so much business lately that she had unintentionally allowed her homework to slide. Now she had quite a bit of work that she had to get done. Which meant no selling things today. There was disappointment at the thought. It wasn't like she needed the money, because not only did she have the hospital bills paid off for the next two months, but she had quite a bit extra. It was more because Carla would rather be a merchant than study and do homework.
Still, she had to keep up her grades. Though she blamed it on her mom for wanting to be an A student, it was her own desire as well. Not only was there the pride of everyone knowing you were a good student - along with being able to wave her grades in the faces of a lot of Class Zero members to rub it in their noses - and that it really made people want to buy things from a girl with a great reputation, but it sure helped her case if someone ever did get mad about a product and try to turn her in for her conning. How were the teachers and faculty punish a girl with such a good reputation for grades and working so hard at her homework? They weren't, which was incentive in of itself to keep her grades up. One could never be too careful around here.
Unbeknownst to her, Carla had wandered directly to the part in the library where Kazusa's lab was. To be perfectly honest, though she knew it existed, she had never really cared enough to figure out directly where it was. She tended to stay away from the perverted researcher, and of all the people he would snatch, it was highly unlikely that he would choose her. So instead of worrying, Carla stroked the backs of books as she went along, before stopping. How had she never known that this book was in the library?! With a little chuckle, Carla pulled out the book. "Perfecting your Javelin Toss? I think Nine would appreciate this~..." She actually chuckled before tucking the book under her arm. Well, even if this day had to be boring, she could at least get a little enjoyment at the end of the day when she presented it to Nine. His face...she was going to have to bring a camera.

Kazusa had been a bit down lately. Ever since that Queen bitch had kicked down his door and threatened to brutally murder him in the most creative ways imaginable if he ever so much as looked in her classmate’s direction again, he’d felt weird. Not like his usual self. Fearing the loss of his precious body parts, the scientist had actually heeded the girl’s warning, and stayed away from anything with a red cape. It was eating away at him though, not being able to snatch just whoever he wanted anymore. Of course, he could just ignore her ‘friendly request’ and catch one of the special little snowflakes anyway, but he had a feeling Queen would make good on her promises if he did. So what did that leave him with? Not much… there were still plenty of students around that Queen wouldn’t get as upset over, but none of them were interesting enough. Sighing sadly to himself, Kazusa again rolled onto his other side as he lay on his bed. He’d gotten up hours ago, and he was already dressed, but… he was just sad today, so he’d opted to lay on his bed for a good number of hours before hunting either Emina or Kurasame down and whining to them about these new rules that had been forced upon him. Life was so unfair.
After moping and sighing and whining to himself for a few minutes, instinct finally drove the man to get back up and scan the library for possible candidates for his latest experiment. It was quite the jewel he’d invented, and he’d planned on catching Nine for it because he needed someone with a short fuse for this, and who better to use for something like this than that kid? But that was out of the question now. Machina was also out of the question, because Kazusa had a feeling he would cry and sob before getting angry, he seemed like the overly sensitive type. Actually, he had considered Machina for a little while, because rumor had it that Queen didn’t particularly care about that guy and would probably allow him to experiment on that particular classmate, but then there was Machina’s childhood sweetheart, who also had a few nasty rumors surrounding her. For example, he’d heard that, in order to ensure that her classmates were healthy, she tied them up and forcefully shoved vitamins down their throats. That didn’t sound like someone he wanted to piss off. Who knew what sort of horrendous torturing devices she would shove down his throat if she got angry enough? No, Machina was definitely a no go.
Opening up the peep hole in his door, Kazusa reached through it and pressed one of the books aside so he got a good look at what was going on around his lair. Most kids were on the other side of the walkway… maybe they’d figured out that this side was the dangerous side? Joke’s on them though, he’d built his lab in a strategic location. All the actual study material was over on this side, so they all had to wander over here at some point whether they liked it or not. But whatever, none of them were suitable for this particular experiment anyways, he needed an angry person. A dragoon, most likely, because they were known for their tempers. Any angry person would do though. When he spotted someone walking over to his peep hole, Kazusa quickly ducked, so as to not get caught by whoever had the balls to come over here. The voice he heard made him grin like the Cheshire Cat. So Carla had come over here to get some books, had she? He should’ve known that to be the case, Carla seemed fearless. But better yet, she was a dragoon, and even better than that was that she was known to be a money grabbing sadist. This could easily work to his advantage. Closing the hatch again so she couldn’t accidentally see into his lab, Kazusa sprinted back over to his cabinets and began to rummage through them, tossing several items out of the way as fast as he could to get what he needed, after all, Carla might leave at any given moment. He had to catch her before she left, because she was perfect for this experiment. Having finally found what he was looking for, the scientist merrily skipped over to his door and prepared his tools. A coin on a string in one hand, and a spray can in the other. The coin was to distract the girl, the spray can contained his own invention, something that when inhaled, instantly knocked one out. He was getting all giddy over this!
He opened the tiny hatch just enough for him to squeeze the coin through it and let it drop on the shelf where Carla had just gotten her book from. Surely she would notice it, he even made sure the coin made a noise as it dropped on the wood. Now this was the tricky part, he needed her to spot it, and then slowly draw it back this way so she would get up close and personal with his hatch, so he could use his spray can to spray it right into her nostrils and knock her out immediately. The only thing left to do then was to open the door, grab her legs, drag her in, and close the door again. He’d had plenty of practice in this area, so he’d be able to grab her and drag her in before anyone even noticed she’d been knocked out. Holding his can up and peering through the hole himself to see when he had to pull the coin back, Kazusa watched… and waited.

If Naghi ever had a choice between tangible and intangible resources, he would pick the intangible every day of the week. They were more convenient, widely available and easy to access. In other words, he didn't have to drag off to the library four or five times a day in order to pick them up, only to have to carry them back later on because some snooty library authority thought whatever was taken from his or her "domain" would be a dozen seconds late. Typically, the ops room's extensive databases had all the information the ninja class or anyone else using the room would need to complete their assignments or own goals for any given day. Every now and then, though, the databases proved a little inadequate, specifically on more antiquated pieces of information or details. Naghi had to get his hands on antiquated books to make up for the deficiency, it seemed. With a slightly disgruntled expression on his face, he pushed open the library doors and essentially rushed his way in, hoping to make this a short trip so he could get back and get finished with his work.
In the process, he didn't pay the goings on around him much mind, blocking most everything out until he got to the row he needed, planning to find a book filled with older construction codes for certain important buildings in Rubrum. Naghi wasn't sure, but it seemed mighty important to him to have the codes on hand in the ops room in case the buildings were ever hit with a terror attack or outright laid siege to. Whoever made that oversight was hopefully long gone by now so they couldn't manage to leave out any other highly important pieces of information. Now that Naghi was the senior student member of the ops room, he'd be fixing the problems that other, more incompetent people had created. If it meant a few annoying trips halfway across the school to grab some dusty books, Naghi could deal with that scenario, even if it was pretty inefficient.
As he turned onto the row, he narrowly glanced the back of a familiar head, specifically the one belonging to Carla. Who could mistake hair like hers, after all? He only took the time to give her a short scan from behind, though, coming to the quick conclusion that she was only gathering books for some of her own work, before he turned back to his own business and stuffed his hands in his pockets as his sharp eyes picked up on the names and numbers of the books. He took a few casual steps off to his side to follow the progression of book numbers before stopping again, propping an elbow on the shelf as he took a closer glance at the thin books incorporating the one he was needing for the construction codes. Naghi grabbed a pair, glanced the covers and shoved them back in indifferently, before taking the next two and doing the same. In this second pair, he found what he needed and flipped it open to make sure someone wild, like Nine, hadn't gotten their hands on it and screwed up the pages. Once he was sure it was fine, he started off for the front to check it out, bothering to "check out" the female dragoon on the opposite side of the row again as he departed.
"I'm checking this one out for the ops room," he told the lady at the front, before she even realized he was standing at the counter. She did a double-take from her screen to where he was standing, before eyeing him closely. The scholars didn't trust the ninja class, and Naghi was perfectly okay to return the feeling. She went about the quiet motions of marking the card in the book while Naghi made note to look impatient, crossing his arms over his chest and taking in the whole of the library. The place simply moved to slow for his tastes...as did the librarian, who took far too long to get the card back in, clumsy hands fumbling with it long enough to make Naghi almost want to roll his eyes.
In his waiting, a quick bit of recollection hit him and caused his arms to fall to his sides. With the costume party for the school coming up - which Naghi was only attending because certain individuals in the ops room had begged him to go - he had a little amount of his own business with Carla. He needed to check and see if she had something specific he needed to buy. Receiving the book from the librarian finally, Naghi took it and started his way back over towards the row where he'd spotted Carla before, idling his way through pages of the book he held as he went along.

I brush it off Hope it hits you hard, if it hits at all. So you finally know, what you really want Carla was elated to have this book in her hands. Honestly she hadn't known that it even existed, even in their library. That made it all the better! If she hadn't known it was in the school, then Nine definitely wouldn't have any idea about it. Boy was this going to be rich, blindsiding him like that. Though she liked to taunt every member of class Zero, there were a few that were really easy to ruffle their feathers, which meant that it was a whole lot more fun to do than to others. Queen for instance...Carla got no satisfaction out of trying to torment her, since the class president didn't seem to have a bone in her body that could be flustered, unfortunately for her. And it really was unfortunate! Carla would love to add Queen to her personal list of victories in the taunting area. So...she would have to find something, and she thought she had with that whole King's Crotch business...but even that had flustered her when she had asked her outright about it. Well sheesh, did that woman have any shame? It sure didn't seem like it!
Well whatever, Queen and her own failure to troll that woman wasn't what she wanted to be thinking of right now anyway! She was thinking of Nine, the dumb-y of Class Zero, there were a few others as well. Jack was probably the worst out of them all, Cinque...Eight-...yeah, thinking she would want him! In his dreams! Actually...not even there. She'd really rather not be in any perverted dreams that Eight had. she really wouldn't want to...but she bet he'd had them. Oh man...just block it out, bloooock it out.
It was at that moment that a noise alerted her. Carla would know what money dropping sounded like any day. With a raised brow, she swiveled her head until she was scanning the ground. If it belonged to some student, she would be oh so happy to be a kind, respectful person and return it to them. ...Okay, so she would probably keep it instead. No harm in that, right? Finders keepers! Aqua eyes glanced around the ground while she made her way slowly in the direction she'd heard the sound. Well shucks! Where was that little bugger anyway? She became disgruntled quickly that she wasn’t finding it, but wouldn't give up! She knew that was money...it had to be. Sounded like money to her!
And then she saw it. Oh hooo! On the shelf? Huh, odd... Well whatever. Money was money! Who would just leave money laying around anyway? Tch, stupid people really needed to get a grip on life. Peeking over her shoulder, Carla confidently walked up toward where the coin was resting on the shelf. Something warned her that this had to be too good to be true…but what was the harm in taking the money? And so she reached her hand out to start to grab it.

Tagged : Naghi/Carla | Words : 1011 | Notes : It's been too long, so I forgot the original experiment he needed her for v.v
Life had just been so dull lately, now that he couldn’t snatch up whoever he wanted anymore. The scientist scowled childishly at his wall, thinking of the brat that had put him in this position. A part of him could understand why she’d wanted to protect her friend, but did she really have to get all extreme with her threats like that? Okay, so the littlest babbies were off limits, but would it really hurt Nine that much to be knocked out for a few hours, for example? Surely the school would be grateful if he took that guy out, it would mean some peace and quiet for everyone else. But nooooo, everyone in that damned class was off limits… An annoyed huff escaped his throat before Kazusa jumped to his feet and walked over to his tools, giving them a longing look before moaning about the unfairness of it all again and stomping in the other direction. Who did she think she was anyway, coming in here acting like she owned the place and telling him what to do? He sure as hell didn’t bother waltzing into her classroom and telling her what to do, so what was up with that? Of course he wouldn’t have tried ordering Class Snowflake around even if Queen wasn’t the aggressive bitch she was, because… well… it was Kurasame’s class now, and you didn’t exactly want to piss Kura off either. Nine had tried that, and he was probably still feeling the bruises on his ass and ego, Cater had tried to leap to his defense and she was probably still pulling the ice shards from her hair. “Hehehe…” he chuckled at the thought of his friend kicking their asses all casual like, not giving a damn whether they were speshul or not. Honestly, Kazusa didn’t care much either. They could be special if the higher ups wanted them to be special, but even he had to admit it got a little tiresome at times to have to listen to people gush all over that particular group of kids as though they were somehow less annoying and bratty than all the other kids in this school. Just recently he’d dragged a girl in here and she just couldn’t stop whining about Seven, how wonderful and amazing she was and all that. Kazusa had casually informed her of the rather odd encounter Seven had had with Sice once and suggested she might just respond favorably to the creepy fangirl’s declaration of undying love. She’d seemed interested too… Aww, he really was Doctor Love, setting up adorable couples like these.
But enough about those particular kids that were not to be experimented on again lest he fancied losing certain body parts. It was time to get over it and find another victim. It wasn’t like this school only had one class anyway, there were plenty of others to choose from, so all was not lost for Kazusa. After peeking through his peephole, he spotted the perfect candidate for the job; Carla Ayatsugi. Although he didn’t really like kids, Carla was one of those rare few individuals that he didn’t downright want to smack for being bratty, that was not to say that Carla was a nice girl, far from it in fact. But there was something so unbelievably mean and condescending about the blue haired teen that he couldn’t help but laugh a little at her occasional antics regarding especially Class Zero. Those articles she wrote on them always gave him a good chuckle. Of course, the fact that he found her just a little more entertaining than the others didn’t mean she wasn’t ultimately just another student to experiment on, and especially for this particular test, she was the perfect subject. He’d created a sort of mind-altering device that could control the emotions of those it was used on and altered them into something else entirely. He figured this sort of machine would never run out of ways to use it. Therapists could use it on their patients to help calm them down, prison guards could use it on inmates to prevent fights from breaking out, Suzaku could use it against their enemies to control the battlefield, and last but certainly not least… this machine would make getting drugged up and drunk beyond any field of reason unnecessary because you could mess up your mind with a simple push on a button! Needless to say, he was quite pleased with himself for coming up with the idea and almost maybe building the thing as well. He’d tested it on one of his pet mice, and it had worked wonders there, but who knew how people would respond to it? He could’ve obviously tested it on himself, but what if something went wrong and he got into the wrong state of mind? The kind where he was so down in the dumps that he didn’t have the energy to tinker with the device further? He’d forever be stuck in that mood! No, he needed someone else to play the guinea pig for him, and as anger was one of the strongest emotions out there, he figured a dragoon would work well here. And Carla was a dragoon. Case closed.
With the coin pushed through the hole, Kazusa couldn’t help but feel giddy when he saw the girl respond to the noise by looking around. As suspected, Carla never stepped out of her money grabbing ways, not even in a place like this. Good… yes… excellent. This was going to be his easiest abduction yet. And she was starting to look annoyed when she couldn’t spot the coin as well, only confirming his thoughts that there was no better subject for this particular experiment. When she finally spotted the coin, Kazusa’s plan was set in motion. Lightly tugging on the string, he pulled the coin ever so slightly out of her reach, and he opened the tiny hatch a little further to give his spray can some room to do its job. Just a little further now...
