Eight couldn't think of anything else to say to the group of students passing in front of him in odd uniforms that he'd never seen before in his life. A group of three walking past on his right turned and looked at him oddly for a few seconds before deciding to give the odd, short guy in the cape a few waves and walk away giggling. Eight just stared after them, his mouth drooped. He'd never seen any of their faces before in his life, either. Sometime when he wasn't paying attention, he must have wandered into some part of the school he'd never seen, like the part of the school where Kazusa or someone had gotten ahold of everyone, turned them into weird science projects, and set them back to walking around and looking totally different than they had before. Oh, no, worse, this part of the school could be where Astley kept the souls of all the students that he'd eaten alive and tossed them out into some kind of imaginary place that looked like it could be the Peristylium but really wasn't so they would go on forever not realzing that they had been consumed by the biggest creeper in the entire world. Yeah, Eight had definitely figured out what this place was. He had no doubts now.
He started walking forward a little, really making an effort to avoid these fake students making him believe that he was in the real world when he wasn't. His eyes searched everything in the area, and if he really was in Astley's imaginary world for souls that had been eaten, Astley had done a really bad job of making this place look like the Peristylium. It was too...metallic and...curvy - not that Eight had any problem with curves - and...not...like the Peristylium was supposed to look. Astley couldn't fool him! "Ha! Take that, creeper!", Eight took a second to call into the sky, a little too loudly by the looks of it, since a couple of students across the walkway from him rushed on past more quickly and left Eight to scrutinize them intensely with his eyes. He mumbled to himself under his breath. "I know what you are..." They were Astley's little imaginary student helpers, was what they were. Eight had them figured out, too.
He realized as he continued trotting along slowly that he was probably having really odd thoughts for the situation, but then, he was probably having one of those dreams where he thought he was dreaming but couldn't wake up from it. Being mad at Astley was a great way for him to spend the rest of his dream-
Eight stopped in his tracks, almost falling off of the short set of stairs he was climbing, when he saw a familiar hairdo up ahead, with the ends flipped out like gravity didn't matter. Talk about enjoying a dream...now he had Cater in the dream with him! And she was wearing something that...looked...really, really good. She should wear short yellow dresses more often...like, every single day. She wasn't facing totally in his direction, so Eight couldn't get her attention, but he started jogging over to get her attention, taking her all in the whole time he was on his way. Man, these were the times when he needed to...walk up a staircase after her, or something. "Cater!", he said when he got to her. He could not keep his eyes off of her legs and nearly collided with her for the staring...but he was definitely not going to bother to look up into her face right now. Cater didn't mind his staring, anyway! It was why they were compatible. "Hi."

Well… this was an odd feeling. Normally she had plenty of stuff to do, but it seemed like she had somehow missed this day in her agenda because she had absolutely nothing planned for today. No trips into town with friends, no training sessions, no missions… nothing. Selphie looked a little lost as she wandered through the halls of the Garden, walking in a large elaborate circle around the building while trying to think of something to do. Normally on days like these, she’d go to the classroom or the library to work on her site, but news had been slow lately, so updates had to be made far less frequently. And besides, she’d already added some things this morning… would it be overkill to add something new mere hours after the last update? Probably… oh well, she’d find something else to do then. For she was Selphie, and Selphies didn’t need help finding ways to keep themselves entertained. She could go practice on her guitar, or just run around until she found a friend and drag them out on a trip to the beach or something. Or… OH! The brunette stopped dead in her tracks, her passive expression turning into one of pure wonder and joy when a most excellent plan entered her brain. She could totally start organizing an event! Yes, a festival like what she’d planned earlier! With music and artists and laughter and… it would be wonderful! The last event she’d planned had been ruined when Galbadian soldiers destroyed the stage she’d worked on so hard over several months time… sure, they had still had a mini-event for just Rinoa and Squall, but it wasn’t the same as when the entire school would come out to party.
“Hey!” she called at a group of students who passed her by, “Would you like to help with-“ before she could even finish her sentence, the students had picked up their pace and were hurriedly moving away from her. Oh for the love of… what was wrong with these people?! They were seriously going to back out and let her do all the work again?! The SeeD couldn’t help but huff in annoyance when she watched the group run into the direction of the library, knowing Selphie wouldn’t run in after them because she actually had manners and didn’t scream in places like that. Ugh, this was frustrating, but no worries! She had eventually gotten people to help her out last time too, and she could do it again! “Heeeeey!” she called at another student and started jogging towards him, but he was onto her as well and instantly turned around and started running. “Wait, come back!” she yelled helplessly but didn’t bother to chase him down. Okay, so this one wouldn’t help either, but someone would! By the gods she would have her party this time even if she had to threaten people to help at knifepoint.
But thankfully that wouldn’t be necessary! Someone had come up to her to volunteer! With a little too much excitement coursing through her veins, Selphie spun around in the direction of the voice, her eyes full of joy as she stared the rather odd looking boy down. Just as she was about to open her mouth to speak though, the brunette noticed something off about this guy… following his glance, Selphie pursed her lips and placed a single hand on her hip as she waited for the guy to look up at her face rather than admiring her legs as though they were a pair of juicy steaks. She got enough of this ogling from Irvine, thank you very much, this guy didn’t need to add to it. It wasn’t so much that Selphie blamed guys for being guys… but they could at the very least try and stare in a less obvious way, especially since she didn’t know this guy. Whatever happened to manners anyway? A faint, almost peaceful smile appeared on her face when she realized the guy wasn’t in any rush to show her respect. “If you don't stop ogling me, I may have to go fetch my nutcracker!” she stated in a loud, perhaps too happy sounding tone.

It wasn't like Eight didn't get to see Cater's legs every day in those skirts they wore around the Peristylium, because he spent a long time looking at them and just how nice they were almost every single day he could get away with it...and mostly during class. But for some reason, in this kind of clingy yellow dress she was wearing, they looked...different today. Like he needed to look at them all over again just to figure out what was making them look so different. Of course, it was probably Mr. Astley's fault that they looked a little different, if this place was where he sent all the souls he ate and threw into his cleaning closet, but Eight could put aside thinking about Mr. Astley in favor of looking up and down the length of Cater's legs any day! He just wondered, as the set of legs turned in his direction - she had on some really neat boots, too - why she wasn't saying anything to him in greeting. Oh well, he could wait, if it meant a few more seconds to look at her without her saying "eyes up here" or something crazy along those lin-
Wait, that voice wasn't Cater's voice. And what...what was a nutcracker? Eight's face scrunched sideways into a look of confusion as he trailed up the legs, past the hips, over the chest (which he lingered on only momentarily) until he saw the face of....a person who was undoubtedly not Cater but could have sort of maybe passed as her sister. The scrunch of confusion fell into a look of disappointment for a second or two as he stated the obvious. "You're not Cater." Now that such a truth was established, Eight could move on to figuring out why she wasn't Cater and continue to be confused about what was going on. At least this girl was really pretty, and now he knew why her legs looked different - he had two good things going on right there. But neither of those good things explained where he was or what had happened to bring him here or anything of the sort. And he didn't like the sound of a nutcracker. He needed those to be able to enjoy the girl's good looks, after all.
"Uh...", he began, sounding very smart as he did so. "So you..." Eight didn't exactly know how to word what he was about to say and looked off to the side to think about it for a few seconds. He didn't want to outright ask where she was, because he wanted to impress her and not seem like the lost Class Zero student that he was. But then, he didn't know how to word it without saying it outright. This moment was one of those two he had a year when he needed Trey's huge dictionary of words to say something, and hey, Trey didn't seem to be around. "-youuu go to school here?", he asked, before realizing that he had only been assuming he was at a school because people were wearing uniforms. Crap, now he needed a way out of looking dumb if he was wrong. "Or...you know...people are wearing uniforms and short skirts for something, eh? School's my best guess." He was kind of proud of that save...but only kind of.

Most, if not all men would’ve snapped their eyes up to her face within less than a nanosecond the moment nutcrackers were mentioned, but this guy was either very brave or very foolish for continuing to stare a little longer and trailing all the way over her body before finally meeting her eyes. Raising a single eyebrow, Selphie placed another hand on her hip and gave him a bit of a disapproving look. “Nope, I’m Selphie,” she felt some of her frustration melt away when the guy mentioned another girl. Maybe she looked a lot like his girlfriend, and it wasn’t a big deal to ogle your girlfriend. If it was an honest mistake, the brunette could easily forgive him for staring, and as such, she dropped her arms to her side again and took on a more neutral expression. “And you are?”
She waited patiently as the confused boy tried to form a sentence, a question by the sound of it. Oh good! Selphie loved answering questions! After Squall had shown her around Balamb Garden, Selphie had gone out of her way to memorize the place, and whenever strangers came here, she tried to be the first to greet them so she could show them around and chat a little. She loved meeting new people, and those people always seemed to enjoy having a guide that actually liked explaining things and showing them where everything was. Squall was the exact opposite… and when he’d shown her around she’d gotten a strange feeling that he was about to smack the back of her head in frustration if she asked any more questions. Joke’s on him though, her skull was rock hard from years of drinking milk. He break his hand before damaging her titanium bones. “Ah, well, kind of…” she replied in her usual light hearted voice, her frustration all but forgotten by now. “This is a Garden, a SeeD academy, you know?” most people knew what SeeD was, so she didn’t feel the need to elaborate further. He’d understand that this was as much a school as it was a military training facility. The odd thing was that he’d apparently wandered up here without knowing where he even was. Did he hit his head or something? It wasn’t like Balamb Garden was located in the middle of a crowded city right next to several buildings, so he couldn’t have accidentally wandered in here looking for the library. The only nearby town was the seaside town of Balamb, which was hardly big enough to even be on a map.
“…Did you take illegal drugs?” she asked out of the blue after she’d glanced at his head for a few seconds looking for bumps or bruises that could indicate head trauma, and after she’d found none, being drugged up to the point of not knowing where you were was the next best conclusion Selphie could come up with. Without giving him the chance to respond, the brunette continued on almost straight away, “Or you drank too much? Would you like me to explain the concept of moderation to you?” she wondered if she still had her sock puppets from when she’d given one of her other friends this talk. Obviously this guy wasn’t her friend… yet, but most eventually ended up there anyway. What could she say? Some liked to collect post stamps, Selphie collected friends. There was nothing wrong with that.
