Take a breath You lead me on the edge of sanity. There's not much left, so just take a breath As hard as she tried, Seven couldn't seem to focus on the lesson.
Blinking, as Kurasame's voice droned on, she abandoned her pencil in favor of rubbing her face with her hands. She wasn't sure what it was, either, that kept her mind so focused on everything but schoolwork. True, she'd been up close to the entire night previous caring for a sick Jack - who had plopped himself in her and Sice's dorm and had refused to leave in his feverish state. While Sice had been in favor of kicking him out, Seven had won the decision to allow him to stay. Ultimately, what she said went between her and Sice. Now she found that she regretted that decision greatly. If she knew she could get away with it, she would have been resting her entire face on her desk and attempting to snooze. Biting her lip, Seven peeked out from behind her hands and scanned over the class. ...Maybe if King shifted juuuuuust a little to the right, his mullet would block Kurasame's line of vision and she could catch a catnap. Silently willing him to do so, Seven was once again disappointed when he shifted the opposite direction. 'Oh come on...', she internally groaned.
Sighing loudly - and catching a look of disapproval from Queen - Seven sunk deeper into her chair, propped her chin on her palm and her elbow on the desktop and attempted to relax. Too bad she didn't need glasses. ...Queen always had the perfect opportunity to sleep and no one could really tell behind those glasses. Wasted though, since Seven highly doubted Queen would ever even fathom the idea of slacking off for a moment in class. Did Queen get any points docked ever? Seven considered herself a good student, but come on...she would be using those glasses to her advantage right now if at all possible.
What she wouldn't give for some coffee. Or a bed. Or not having the most boring voiced teacher in existence lecturing. Or all three. Actually, all three would be fantastic. Shifting slightly, Seven sunk even further in her seat and allowed her eyes to droop somewhat. She could swear that Kurasame was telling them something important, but at the moment she couldn't even bring herself to care. Again she got a look of disapproval shot to her from Queen's direction. Seven should care...she really should, but Queen hadn't been up the majority of the night with a whining and feverish Jack. Why had she had to open that door and let him in? She should have just told him Sice and her were naked and forced him to go to...King or something.
She groaned lightly. Maybe Cater was right, and she was a little too much of a pushover sometimes. Tapping her cheek with her fingers, Seven closed her eyes for a few seconds and hoped that Kurasame wouldn't notice her. Surely he would find something wrong with...Nine first, right? She'd always kept a low profile. Stifling a yawn with her hand, Seven forced her eyes open and attempted once more to focus on Kurasame. Nine sat there in boredom in class. Kurasame was going on about something complicated. Nine really couldn't be bothered to try and think on the subject being discussed. Kurasame had lost him during the first half of the lesson. Nine tried to follow him at first but when he found that he couldn't keep up anymore with what was being said, he had resorted to his usual. Nine sat back in his chair and propped his feet on the desk right in front of him again as he leaned his chair back. The blond scoped the class before him. Queen was paying attention to Kurasame, as usual. The Dragoon was careful to not let her take notice of him glancing at her for that brief moment. The last thing he needed was to see that look of satisfaction written all over her face about how he couldn't keep up with the lectures. She always had some sort of twisted amusement in the fact that Nine hadn't been the sharpest tool in the shed. If he tried to apply himself, Nine could likely make something of himself but he hated learning. Nine couldn't be bothered to apply himself to anything more than fighting. Nine lived for fighting.
Allowing his gaze to wander somewhere else, Nine slowly lulled himself into a stupor. He wasn't sure why but Kurasame's lecture was particularly boring for the blond today. As he lulled more into the stupor, Nine had taken his legs off his desk and sat normally in his seat again. However, that wouldn't last for very long. Kurasame's voice just seemed to drone on and on. The more Kurasame droned on, the more tired Nine had become. Before long, the blond rested his elbows on the desk, then his arms. Then, finally, he rested his chin on his arms only to finally bury his face in them. Without realizing it, Nine had fallen asleep.
Since Nine generally sat further in the back, away from the center of the room so he wasn't generally called on for answering questions, no one would have noticed if he had fallen asleep. That is, if he didn't decide to snore rather loudly. At first, it was low as Nine drifted into a deep sleep. Once he had fallen entirely asleep, his snoring gradually grew louder. Loud enough to disturb the class. As Nine slept, the blond was completely unaware of the fact that he had disturbed the class. In his sleep, he soon lost control of his muscles that kept him propped up as they relaxed now that he was asleep. In doing so, Nine had lost his balance when he tipped off slowly to the side.
There was a loud THUD as Nine hit the floor. Having felt himself make impact with the floor, the Dragoon was awake in an instant. Scrambling to his feet, he looked around in surprise. The whole thing had earned him laughter from those who had noticed what had happened. It had also earned him the cold stare of their Instructor's. Of course, Nine didn't seem to take notice as he blinked around for a few moments as if he had expected a fight before wandering back to his seat and sitting down. As he did, only then did he notice the stare that Kurasame had been giving him. Nine stared the man directly in the eyes from where he sat, a light frown on his face as he challenged him. Sure enough, Kurasame told Nine that he was to attend detention later on in the evening. It was no surprise to Nine that he'd receive detention. Kurasame seemed to enjoy dishing out detention to the lot of them if he wasn't busy hammering them down. Nine was prone to both.
"Like I give a damn!" Nine growled in answer before he was smacked down with an extended time for detention. The blond let out a groan. He was always bored to death with detention. That had been enough to silence him, at least for now, before Kurasame scoped the crowd for anymore slumbering students.
'Tha' bastard! Always thinkin' he's so damn smart!' Nine thought bitterly in his head.

Take a breath You lead me on the edge of sanity. There's not much left, so just take a breath Seven's eyes only remained open for a minute before they were once again slipping down. Propping an elbow on her desk, the silver haired girl attempted to keep her head from bobbing. Etro, what she wouldn't do for a nap right now...most anything really. She should have pretended to be sick or something and just skipped class today. It seemed worse to just skip than to gain Kurasame's attention by falling asleep in class. Then again, she had no doubts that Kurasame kept a log of the exact minutes they were missing, both from being tardy and from missing the lecture completely. Arecia had been much easier on them as a class, but there was no room to mess around with Kurasame as their teacher. While Seven largely accepted that he was their new professor and didn't oppose it like some did, she couldn't quite bring herself to understand exactly why he had replaced Arecia. The upside was that there was no 'birds and bees' speeches or weird charts she would bring in every once in a while for what she called 'class education'.
Her closed eyes and relaxed body was disrupted when she heard a loud noise coming from directly behind her. Snapping quickly to attention, Seven's eyes flared open and she straightened her spine. Blinking to free her eyes from the sleepiness that had gathered there, Seven felt herself freeze when Kurasame's angry glare was sent in her direction. Her violet eyes widened a bit even as she slipped further into her seat and attempted to hide from his searching look. "Nine, when class is dismissed, you will go immediately to detention." Seven let out a breath of air in a 'whooshing' noise and felt a great relief. She hadn't been caught in her slumber.
She wanted to strangle him when he insulted Kurasame again. Once more she slid further in her seat to avoid his angry gaze. "You will remain there for two extra hours. Before you leave, you will 'give a damn', Nine." Sheesh, Kurasame really did have a thing for punishing Nine to the extreme. While Seven could understand why, it still didn't quite seem fair. Turning slightly - Nine's normal seat was directly behind hers, Seven sent him a look. If he had the gumption to speak up once, he would do it again. "Shhh.", she sighed softly to discourage him from speaking up again. When she had turned back, Seven noticed that their teacher's vision had settled onto her this time. "Did you have something to add to the class, Seven?" She swallowed hard and shook her head. He said nothing further, but he watched her for a good five seconds further before his attention returned to the board. This time Seven sent another look over her shoulder, her eyes narrowed slightly.
Hopefully Nine behaved himself for the rest of class. Notes: Feel free for Nine to bug Seven anyway you want to XD Wearing: Class uniform Setting: School room; Tagged: Nine Words: 516

Nine narrowed his eyes after letting out a loud groan in response to the extended detention time. "Tch!" Nine scoffed over at the frigid Instructor but he said nothing more on the subject. Instead, he just resentfully sat up in his seat and then propped an elbow on the desk in front of him, keeping his head held up as he rested his chin on the propped up fist. His light blue eyes never leaving the Instructor before Kurasame turned his gaze somewhere else. Then, as the Instructor turned his gaze away from him, Nine noticed movement directly in front of him. Nine looked down, since his desk was set a foot back behind Seven's. Their desks were all set up as if they were stacking upward from a set of steps.
The blond dragoon furrowed his brows a little, mildly curious as Seven peered back up at him. There was some sort of look on her face before she shushed him. Nine's face contorted into a disgruntled frown. "Why don' you shush!" he growled in response. Granted, Nine generally didn't have much of a problem with Seven but it rubbed him the wrong way to be corrected by someone else now.
There had been another voice. Surprised, Nine looked up to find Kurasame had caught what was being said as he asked Seven if she had anything to add to the class. After an awkward moment where Seven had simply shook her head, the Instructor stared at Seven for five seconds before returning his attention to the board. Nine rolled his eyes before Seven looked in his direction again with her eyes narrowed. Nine looked back down at her, narrowing his gaze in return. He wasn't the type of person anyone wanted to get into an argument with. Granted, Seven and Nine generally got along fine, Nine wasn't one to sit there and let someone give him dirty looks without returning them in return.
"Got a starin' problem?" Nine asked her sarcastically before blowing her off by focusing on Kurasame. He remained silent for a few more minutes before the blond got bored all over again. It was difficult for him to focus again. He had tried to at least try one more time but now, he was so lost it wasn't worth his time. He'd likely have to ask King when time came for exams and tests. Nine only just barely got by each time. As he sat there, a thought came over Nine. A deviant grin spread then upon his face. Jack could totally take the fall for this one! After all, no one usually suspected Nine of pranking people. Cater and Jack were more widely known for it.
Silently, Nine picked up a piece of paper that he had scribbled a few things on in a vain attempt at keeping up. Folding it, he made a paper airplane. Taking aim at the back of Kurasame's head, Nine let it fly. Poor Seven, she just might not get any sleep today as Kurasame, as if sensing something, swatted at the paper plane before it could hit the back of his head. The frigid Instructor then took that moment to survey the class. It was difficult for Nine to keep on a straight face then as he waited for Kurasame's gaze to focus on someone else. Nine figured he'd still probably get in trouble for it unless he mistook Jack for doing it. Nine made sure to look as innocent as he could while keeping on a straight face. He thought his sides were going to burst from the laughter he was containing within.

Take a breath You lead me on the edge of sanity. There's not much left, so just take a breath Faintly she heard what he said in response to her shushing. Seven bit her lip so she didn't respond to it, and instead attempted to focus her attention back on the lesson at hand. Still, she was exhausted, irritable, and Kurasame was being as dry as ever currently. Unfortunately, as dry as he was, he also seemed to have a constant ear to the ground in order to pick up anything that might seem to be a plot against him. That being such, Seven found herself making forced eye contact with their instructor from across the room. He didn't raise his voice, but Seven felt like it was slapping her up against a wall and closing in on her windpipe. She found herself sliding further down in her seat in an attempt to get away from his gaze, but was forced to endure it. While she knew most of them disliked Kurasame (aside from Sice at least) for replacing Arecia, Seven didn't openly voice her dislike like some of the others did. He was their new instructor after all, and he deserved at least some respect for it.
And Nine didn't seem to have any shame about it either. Seven nearly groaned aloud before she propped her chin in her hands. She just wanted to be out of this classroom. Could Kurasame be any more boring today? Or any dryer? Nine's next bit she heard as well, but after a careful glance at Kurasame, Seven decided it was probably to her benefit to not respond. It was probably her luck that Kurasame would catch nothing but her being a complete distraction and talking in class. What she wouldn't give to have Arecia back right now...
With drooped eyelids, Seven watched only slightly through her narrowed eyes. She considered herself a decent student, and usually tried hard, but today she would rather be anywhere else and be doing anything else than what she was currently. The class suddenly got more lively though. The paper airplane that floated through the sky snagged her attention. For a moment she thought she was just seeing things, but no. It was obvious who had done it - Seven didn't think even Cater was gutsy enough for a stunt like that.
Perhaps because she was overly tired and running on hardly any sleep. Or perhaps it was because she was about as fed up with this class period as she could be, but Seven found herself unable to hold back her laugh. Quickly she slapped a hand softly over her mouth, sealing off the noises she had made. Slipping down into her seat a bit more, Seven attempted to blend in with her chair. Oh Etro. Moments later the obviously angry teacher was walking up to where her desk was. Looking as contrite as she possibly could, Seven's gaze flickered from the teacher back to her desk. "Do you think this is funny?" "No, sir.", she replied. The look he gave her - which swung up to glare a Nine a moment later. "Do not make me look this way again." The look he gave them could have peeled paint off the walls, and Seven found herself nodding. With his back turned toward them, Seven turned slightly in her seat until she could see Nine. Once she did, Seven twisted her face up in a subtle imitation of what Kurasame's face had looked like in an attempt to mock him. Figuring that Kurasame probably had eyes in the back of her head, she turned back and propped her elbows up on the desk.
Even Seven needed to act like a kid at times.

Nine waited for any response from Seven. Instead, the girl opted to not respond. For the moment, Nine brushed off their confrontation then. It was clear that for now, she didn’t want any trouble and that was good enough for him. Of course, he never hurt a lady but he could sure as hell yell at her and get into a verbal argument with her. Well, for the most part. If a lady was trying to kill him, all bets were off. Nine wasn’t going to be a gentleman and let a girl slit his throat or something. Even Nine knew better than that.
Then, it happened. The paper airplane went right for the Instructor. Sadly, it didn’t hit Kurasame like Nine had hoped. Inwardly, the blond had cursed at that. Even still, it was amusing to cause the guy some annoyance. It made Nine happy to bother the Instructor every now and then.
Seven, whom had seen the paper airplane, had let out a laugh. Nine blinked, since he hadn’t expected someone like Seven to make a peep like that. A slightly smug grin spread on his face for a short moment of time, his innocent face cracked. Kurasame, as if knowing perfectly well who the troublemakers were, walked right over to Seven’s desk. Nine, seeing him coming, immediately lost that smirk on his face. Instead, a neutral expression appeared on his face. The Dragoon always got slapped around now and then. In a way, he was half expecting one at this point in time. Inwardly, Nine was wary of him but didn’t show it as he just simply looked back at the teacher as he questioned Seven if she thought it was funny. Seven, scared for her life, simply replied that she didn’t.
Nine stiffened up, his eyes narrowing a little as his brows furrowed some when the teacher then settled his gaze upon Nine. When Kurasame told them to not make him look their way again, Nine couldn’t help himself. The Dragoon was in for it as he jumped to his feet, his chair getting pushed back abruptly in Nine’s sudden movement. Scowling at the man, Nine spoke. One would think he would have learned by now but no.
”And what are ya gonna do abou’ it, huh?”
Oh no, Nine went there. Kurasame paused in his footsteps. No doubt, he was expecting this sort of thing from Nine. It was just like Nine to be the one to speak up and be the difficult one. The young Dragoon jabbed a finger in the air as he pointed at Kurasame’s turned back.
”I’d like to see you-!”
SLAM!!!
”Ugh!” Nine groaned out after, not for the first time this week, Nine had made impact with the wall behind him. It left him dazed and in pain. Shaking his head for a moment, while he felt the sting, Nine came out of the daze. Gritting his teeth, he lifted his gaze to where Kurasame was standing. The teacher coldly looked back at him, hands behind his back. Once again, Nine felt a surge of anger and it pushed him to his feet again. It was going to take more than a single blow to make Nine back off. After having been hit once already, Nine was now going to defend himself. It was obvious to everyone in the room though what was going to happen even before Nine closed the distance between himself and Kurasame.
WHAM!!!
Once again, Nine was seeing stars as he hit the wall a second time. Generally, the Dragoon always received a beating from time to time. He could never learn to keep his mouth shut or behave himself. One would think after the second hit that Nine would get the message but no. It must have astounded Kurasame how persistent Nine was and foolish. Getting up a bit more slowly, now really feeling the sting from the hits, Nine wasn’t finished yet. Once again, he charged Kurasame.
BAM!!!
This time, Nine wouldn’t be getting back up. Kurasame, instead of smacking Nine aside this time, had decidedly knocked Nine down hard onto the ground and now had a foot propped upon the young Dragoon’s chest. It were as if he were keeping Nine down that way even though Nine, from the look of things, was in too much pain to try to get back up. He had his eyes shut tight as his face was contorted in a nasty grimace. His head was turned to the side as he let the world of pain he was in settle down.
”You’ve earned yourself detention every day of this month, Nine. You are expected to stay here after class.”
Kurasame turned to leave as Nine groaned. Whether it was because he was in pain or because of detention was anyone’s guess. Grimacing, the youth only just managed to sit himself up before glaring over at Kurasame’s turned back. ”Bastard!” Nine spat at his turned back. Even though his spit never reached the teacher, Kurasame seemed to know what happened without even looking at Nine. That and such an insult wouldn’t go unnoticed.
”Make that two months.”
Nine silently cursed at that but this time, refrained from doing anything. Instead, he chose to gradually pick himself up and limp back over to his seat. All the while, he was careful to leave a scathing glare in the Instructor’s direction. One of these days, he will show Kurasame what he was made of! Nope, such a thing hadn’t broken Nine.
